Mhow, 30 December – The Raksha Mantri, Shri Rajnath Singh, accompanied by the Chief of the Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, visited the premier training institutes of the Indian Army in Mhow on a two-day official visit from 29–30 December. The visit included engagements at the Army War College (AWC), Infantry School, and the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE). Senior officers of the Indian Army were also present during the visit.
On 29 December, the Raksha Mantri arrived at Indore Airport, where he was received by the Station Commander, Mhow. He paid homage at the Bhim Janm Bhumi, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Memorial, the birthplace of the architect of the Indian Constitution, and offered floral tributes.
On 30 December, Shri Rajnath Singh visited the Army War College, where he was received by Lieutenant General H.S. Sahi, Commandant, Army War College. The Commandant briefed the Raksha Mantri and the Chief of the Army Staff on the role and significance of the institution in shaping future military leaders for warfighting across the spectrum of conflict. The briefing included key advancements in training methodologies, such as the integration of jointness in multi-domain operations, infusion of technology in the curriculum, and collaborations with academia, industries, and universities. The contribution of the Army War College towards military diplomacy through the training of officers from Friendly Foreign Countries was also highlighted.
During his visit to the Infantry War Memorial, the Raksha Mantri paid floral tributes to the fallen heroes and saluted their bravery and supreme sacrifice for the nation.
Addressing the officers of the Mhow Garrison, Shri Rajnath Singh commended the relentless dedication of the Indian Army towards safeguarding the nation’s borders. He lauded the initiatives undertaken by the Army War College, Infantry School, and MCTE to impart contemporary and relevant training to future military leaders, emphasising the importance of drawing lessons from ongoing global conflicts. He underlined the pivotal role of jointness and Atmanirbharta in preparing the Armed Forces to tackle future challenges.
The Raksha Mantri further interacted with all ranks of the three institutions and appreciated their courage and vigilance in maintaining the nation’s security. He urged the Armed Forces to stay alert to the evolving geopolitical scenario and remain prepared for any eventuality.
Highlighting the critical role of the premier training institutions in Mhow, the Raksha Mantri praised their efforts in advancing the professional excellence of Indian Army personnel in military strategy and warfare. He reiterated the government’s vision to make India a developed and self-reliant nation by 2047, with the Armed Forces playing a central role in achieving this goal.
During his visit to MCTE, Shri Rajnath Singh, accompanied by General Upendra Dwivedi, was briefed by the Officiating Commandant of MCTE on the establishment of the Advanced Incubation and Research Centre and the institution’s collaborative initiatives through various Memorandums of Understanding. The minister also visited the Infantry Museum, which showcases the history and evolution of the Infantry.
Concluding his visit, the Raksha Mantri toured the Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU), where he was apprised of its contribution to national sports and briefed on the induction of modern equipment into the Infantry.
The visit underscored the Government of India’s unwavering support for the Armed Forces and their initiatives to strengthen India’s defense preparedness while fostering excellence in military training and leadership.
