Moscow. 23 August 2021. Amidst the enthusiastic cheers of the Vietnamese people in Russia, the Vietnam People’s Amy (VPA) tank crew entered the qualifying round of the “Tank Biathlon” competition in the Alabino training ground, in the outskirt of Moscow. Their rivals in the race were the crews of Mongolia, Syria and Venezuela.
The first VPA’s tank crew includes: Senior Captain Vu Ba Trong – commander, Lieutenant Do Quoc Tuan – driver and Lieutenant Le Quang Hiep – gunner. With their careful preparation and confidence, as well as their smooth coordination, the 1st Crew of the Vietnam People’s Army Tank contingent hit 5/5 targets and completed the track in 24 minutes 58 seconds, ranked 2nd (out of 4 competing teams) behind the Mongolian Tank crew.
According to the schedule on August 26 and 29, the VPA’s second and third tank crews will enter the qualifying round. The total results of the 3 crews will be counted to decide 8 out of 11 teams will enter the semi-finals.
