• A week-long ticket promotion for all Vietnam – Australia routes

Melbourne. 04 June 2024. Vietjet’s inaugural flight from Hanoi, Vietnam, to Melbourne, Australia, landed today at the Melbourne Airport. It was welcomed by the Hon. Natalie Hutchins, Member of the Victorian Parliament, Minister for Jobs and Industry, Minister for Women, Minister for Treaty and First Peoples of Victoria, Vietnamese Deputy Ambassador to Australia Nghiem Xuan Hoa, Melbourne International Airport Chief of Aviation Jim Parashos; Vietjet Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thanh Ha and Vietjet Vice President Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh, local people and passengers.

Hanoi – Melbourne is Vietjet’s sixth route connecting Vietnam to Australia. With two round trips every Tuesday and Saturday using modern wide-body A330 aircraft, Vietjet continues to facilitate travel between Hanoi and Australia more conveniently than ever before. This expansion of Vietjet’s international flight network will also benefit travellers in Asia and Australia with more flight options and flexibility when planning their journeys between Vietnam, Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, etc.

Vietjet Vice President Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh said: “Since Vietjet’s first flight to Australia in April 2023, we have continuously expanded our network connecting the five largest cities in Australia including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide with Ho Chi Minh City. The launching of Melbourne – Hanoi route today and Sydney – Hanoi on June 8, 2024 further prove our commitment to development by continuing to expand our network and providing quality services between Australia and Vietnam, meeting the demand of locals and tourists.”

Melbourne Airport Chief of Aviation Jim Parashos said the Vietnamese market growth had been one of the silver linings coming out of the pandemic. He added: “The increased capacity in the market delivers benefits to passengers in the form of cheaper fares, but also provides exporters with access to high value markets. Vietjet’s Hanoi service will complement its current five times a week service to Ho Chi Minh City and will give Victorians new connections into other Asian destinations with the airline’s flight network. Vietnam is in our top ten outbound destinations.”

The Hanoi – Melbourne route is expected to attract investment and boost demand for tourism, study aboard, family visits, and work opportunities in Victoria. It will contribute to the Victoria state’s goal of tourism recovery to pre-pandemic levels by 2025 and achieve the targeted tourism revenue of USD53 billion and tourist arrivals of 111.8 million by 2028 (**).

Vietjet will launch the Hanoi – Sydney route on June 8, 2024, following the newly launched service today. Vietjet currently operates 58 flights weekly connecting Vietnam and Australia.
