Ninth Armed Forces Veterans Day will be held at Headquarters Maintenance Command, Vayusena Nagar, Nagpur on 14 Jan 25. Armed Forces Veterans’ Day is celebrated every year on 14th January to commemorate formal retirement of the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army Field Marshal KM Cariappa who retired from service in 1953. This momentous occasion honours the selfless service and sacrifices of our veterans and serves as a tribute to their unwavering commitment to protect our nation’s sovereignty and integrity.
The Armed Forces Veterans Day is observed annually to honour the invaluable contributions of veterans who dedicated the prime of their lives to serving the nation and to commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend the country. The occasion also serves as a platform to address the challenges faced by veterans, empowering them to engage with the public and, in turn, inspire governments to enhance governance within the constitutional framework of India.
Event will be graced by Mr. Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Member of Parliament and will be attended by various service and civil dignitaries. To resolve various issues of veterans, query desk by various government agencies like DIAV, DAV, SPARSH, DNV, ECHS, PSAS, PDAS, Banks and Service Welfare Organisation will be set up at the venue. Approximately 1200-1500 veterans of all the three services are expected to attend the event.
