New Delhi. 02 September 2024.Territorial Army having been raised on 09 Oct 1949 celebrates its Platinum Jubilee this year Territorial Army as People’s Army has a glorious history It has set various glorifying landmarks while serving the Nation be it in security aspects or as an Aid to Civil Authorities. To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee various activities have been planned. Few amongst them are the Plantation Drive for promoting environment protection and a Cycle Expedition from Siachen Base Camp the world’s highest battle field to Indira Point (Andaman Nicobar Island).
The team will be covering a distance of almost 5500km through Land, Air and Water The team has undergone cycling in the most challenging terrain of the Siachen Glacier Himachal Pradesh and then had entered the plains of Punjab and had continued its adventure and motivation drive through States of Delhi, UP MP and reached Kamptee Cantt in Maharashtra on 31 Aug 2024 The team was welcomed and flagged in by General Officer Commanding. Headquarter Uttar Maharashtra and Gujrat Sub Area at Kamptee Cantt (Nagpur) that is the Centre Point of India and will marked its presence here on completing approx 2250 km distance A lecture cum motivational program for 50 NCC Cadets was held at Kamptee Cantt during the ‘Flagging In’ in event.
The Cycle Expedition team is tasked to motivate the youth of the Nation to choose Territorial Army as a career and to take pride in serving out motherland Throughout their journey, the team has also engaged with local communities, ex-servicemen, NCC Cadets, Veterans of Indian Army and families of war heroes. Enroute, the team has conducted activities to inspire the youth for instilling the spirit of adventure in them and encourage the youth for undertaking environmental conversation through tree planation and other green initiatives.
