Abidjan, Cote d’ Ivoire. 02 June 2021. Abidjan for 3 days is going to become a real crossroads of high-level exchanges on the issues of Security and Defence of Africa. To date, more than 60 official delegations have registered for Shield Africa 2021, the international security and defence exhibition of reference for the African continent.
The exhibition gives to African leaders an exceptional opportunity on the continent, to meet together to discuss and discover an offer from many countries in order to: protect States and companies, sensitive infrastructures, high-growth cities, control migratory flows, prevent natural and industrial disasters and combat terrorism and counter threats that can possibly undermine Africa’s development.
Delegations are made up of ministers, state secretaries, chiefs of staff, armament directors, national security directors, as well as heads of police and emergency departments … They are invited by the Ministry of the Interior and Security of Côte d’Ivoire and by the organizer.
Shield Africa allows state decision-makers in African countries to find appropriate responses to Africa’s development security and defence needs. They meet each other, compare their experiences, discuss their needs, seek solutions together, as it is true that increased efficiency is based on regional approaches. After a year of mostly digital events, we know that human contacts are decisive and that trade fairs are very expected by elites for meetings and discussions.
Number of official delegations is constantly growing. During its first edition in 2013, the exhibition hosted 11 official delegations. There were 74 delegations in 2019. To date and despite the particular context of the pandemic, no less than 60 official delegations from 30 countries have already registered for ShieldAfrica 2021
Today, ShieldAfrica confirms its status as a reference trade fair dedicated to security and defence authorities of the African continent.
