Madrid. 31 January 2019. The Spanish Ministry of Defense has awarded Star Defence Logistics & Engineering (SDLE) the contract for the repair and maintenance of the Army’s RG-31 Armoured Mine-Protected Personnel Carrier Vehicle (MPV).
By order of the economic affairs section (known in Spanish as SAECO) of the Army’s wheeled vehicles maintenance center (PCMVR 2), SDLE will carry out corrective and preventive maintenance (including painting) and provide technical assistance for the RG-31.
SDLE, which has tripled its number of employees during the last year, has the technical infrastructure and equipment required for these services.
The contract, with an allocation of 260,000 euros and an execution period ending in November 2019, has been awarded to SDLE for the specialization of its staff, qualified personnel with specific training on this vehicle, as well as for having the PECAL 2110 4th edition quality certificate.
The repair and maintenance work of the RG-31 fleet will be carried out at SDLE facilities, in Móstoles (Madrid), and also at the PCMVR 2, in El Higuerón (Córdoba).
60 of the Spanish Army’s fleet of 100 RG-31s were used in Afghanistan ten years ago, replacing the BMRs whose armor provided insufficient protection against Improvised Explosive Devices (IED).
Recently, SDLE has also been awarded two more contracts for the supply of spare partsfor the Lince LMV (Light Multi-Purpose Vehicle) and Iveco Astra trucks of the Spanish Army.
During the next three years and worth 4,5 million Euros, SDLE will provide the specific spare parts for each model of the LMV Lince.
The company will also be the supplier for specific spare parts for different Iveco Astra land trucks in use with the Army. This contract, awarded in December 2018 by the Army Logistics Support Command (MALE) through a framework contract and worth 900,000 Euros, extends to 2021, like the one on the Lince LMV, taking into consideration an extension for two more years.
