Moscow. 17 April 2019. A detachment of the Royal Thai Navy made up of the frigate HTMS Bangpakong and frigate Naresuan has completed its unofficial visit to Vladivostok made for the first time in 15 years.
During the business call, which started on April 13, the seamen and cadets of the Thai Navy schools met with the commander of the Pacific Fleet, Admiral Sergei Avakyants, laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame of the Battle Glory of the Pacific Fleet memorial, visited the Museum of Pacific Fleet, and S-56 Submarine and Voroshilov Battery museum complexes. There were friendly competitions between Russian and Thai seamen in football and tug of war.
After leaving the main base of the Fleet for the Sea of Japan, the R-14 missile boat, which led the detachment to the edge of the territorial waters of the Russian Federation, and the ships of the Thai Navy conducted training on joint tactical maneuvering and communications. Later there was a farewell ceremony of warships at sea.
