RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire. 14 July 2024. Do you genuinely love aviation, are passionate about military aircraft, love to experience the ultimate pleasure of seeing fighter jets roaring in the skies and enjoy the huge military transporters gliding towards the blue horizon? Then it is time to head to Royal Air Force Station at Fairford in Gloucestershire, England. 19th to 21st of July will be the days for military aviation buffs to live their obsession and love their fascination at the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) 2024.

RIAT this year promises to be an extraordinary celebration of aviation and airpower, spotlighting significant milestones and pioneering advancements in the industry. The event will embrace four major themes: the 50th anniversary of the F-16 Fighting Falcon, a tribute to pushing the boundaries in air and space, the 75th anniversary of NATO, and the centennial celebration of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). These themes are designed to honour historic achievements, foster professional discussions, and showcase the latest technological developments in aviation.

As RIAT 2024 marks half a century since the first flight of the F-16 Fighting Falcon, attendees will be treated to a global celebration featuring a static lineup of F-16s from around the world and thrilling flying demonstrations, in partnership with Lockheed Martin. The main theme, “Pushing the Boundaries in Air and Space,” will highlight a century of British military test flying and the crucial role of Flight Test & Evaluation. The event will feature specialized test flight aircraft and cutting-edge sustainable aviation technologies such as electric and hydrogen-powered planes.

In addition, RIAT 2024 will commemorate the 75th anniversary of NATO, emphasizing the alliance’s enduring importance in safeguarding freedom and security for its member nations. Aircraft from NATO countries will be prominently displayed, reflecting the organization’s vital role in today’s global landscape. The event will also celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force, with modern and historic RCAF aircraft on display, Canadian cultural exhibits, and a performance by the Canadian CF-18 Demo Team.

50 YEARS of F-16

 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the F-16 Fighting Falcon’s first flight, and with over 4600 airframes manufactured over the last five decades, the aircraft has become one of the most successful combat jets in history. To celebrate this, the Royal International Air Tattoo 2024 will host a global celebration of the F-16 Fighting Falcon in conjunction with Lockheed Martin. The focal point being a static line-up of F-16 from around the world and of course impressive flying demonstrations of the F-16.

PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES IN AIR AND SPACE

 The main theme will highlight the important work of Flight Test & Evaluation in modern aviation, looking back at 100 years of British military test flying. It hopes to display specialised, modified and instrumented test flight aircraft from organisations from around the world dedicated to Flight Test, Evaluation and Scientific Research. In addition, this theme will enable the aviation industry to showcase the latest technological developments, including sustainable aviation technologies such as Electric & Hydrogen powered aircraft

NATO 75TH ANNIVERSARY

Since it was established in the early 1970s, the Air Tattoo has been committed to demonstrating the importance of the NATO Alliance. Therefore, it is highly appropriate that at RIAT 2024 it will celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. Since its establishment in April 1949 the fundamental role of NATO has been to safeguard the freedom and security of its member countries and in today’s world, the role of NATO is more important than ever. This special occasion will be celebrated at RIAT 2024 by welcoming aircraft from NATO Nations.

100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE

 One of the focus areas for the Royal International Air Tattoo 2024 will be celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force. In a special ground area, the show will host both modern RCAF assets, as well as historic aircraft types formerly flown by the RCAF, alongside displays of Canadian culture for visitors to enjoy and interact with. In addition, it is  excited to welcome the Canadian CF-18 Demo Team to perform in the flying display.

RIAT 2024 is set to be a remarkable event, blending historical tributes with forward-looking innovations, and offering aviation enthusiasts and professionals alike a unique and inspiring experience.
