Paris. 14 July 2023. It is 11.30 PM in France here and we are at Eiffel Tower to see the fireworks. Lets take a recap of the Day2 of PM Modi’s official visit as Guest of Honour at the Bastille Day Parade today.
- Narendra Modi attended the Bastille Day Parade as the Guest of Honour. To mark the 25th anniversary of the India-France Strategic Partnership, 241 member tri-service Indian armed forces contingent led by a military band also participated in the Parade. The Indian Army contingent was led by the Punjab Regiment, along with the Rajputana Rifles Regimental Band. Rafale Jets of the Indian Air Force, from the 101 Squadron from Hashimara, formed a part of the fly past during the parade.
- Prime Minister met Ms. Yaël Braun-Pivet, President of the French National Assembly and the senior leadership of the Assembly, over lunch at her official residence, Hotel de Lassay in Paris.
- He met Ms. Charlotte Chopin, renowned French yoga teacher in Paris and appreciated her deep faith in yoga and her ground-breaking work in the promotion of Yoga in France.
- Modi met Ms. Leena Nair, Global CEO of Chanel, a French luxury fashion house and invited Chanel to explore investment opportunities and collaboration potential in India.The discussions focused on ways to promote handicrafts, khadi and skill development of artisans in India.
- Prime Minister met Thomas Pesquet, a French aerospace engineer, pilot, European Space Agency astronaut and actor and invited him to visit India to motivate the youth as well as explore space sector collaborations.
- Both leaders announced the Joint Communique in which they look ahead to the next 25 years for our journey together to 2047 and beyond, with a bolder vision and higher ambitions, when they will celebrate the centenary of India’s Independence, the centenary of their diplomatic ties and half a century of the strategic partnership.
- In order to set out their shared vision for this next phase of the India-France Strategic Partnership, both leaders adopted the “Horizon 2047 Roadmap on the 25th Anniversary of the Indo-French Strategic Partnership: towards a century of French-Indian relations” along with several other outcomes covering a wide range of areas.
- The two leaders agreed to extend the 2018 Joint Strategic Vision of India-France Cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region to the Pacific. India and France are strategically located resident powers and key partners with vital stakes in the Indo Pacific region. The Indo-French partnership in the Indian ocean has become an important focus of bilateral relations.
- Addressed the joint press conference with President Emmanuel Macron
