MILITARY BAND ENTHRALLS MILAN DELEGATES

PORT BLAIR 07 March 18. A captivating Band Concert was held on 6th March at Dweepika Auditorium, Haddo area by the Andaman & Nicobar Command for the visiting foreign delegates and participants of MILAN 2018. Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VSM, NM (Retd), Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Andaman & Nicobar was the Chief Guest for the evening. Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, AVSM, ADC, Commander-in-Chief, Andaman & Nicobar Command attended the concert along with various dignitaries from the participating navies and civil administration of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Formed in 1945 with a handful of Naval musicians, the Indian Naval Band, over the years has won accolades for their performances in several national and international fora. The Indian Naval Band rendered a wide ranging repertoire which comprised stirring martial music, arrangements of symphonies, Indian classical music, and a host of other forms of contemporary genres. The scintillating performance of the band struck a chord with the audience. The chief composer of the Band is Commander Satish K Champion, who has many musical compositions to his credit. Under his musical guidance, the Naval Band played some popular military numbers which were appreciated by all.
