- Company to set up a new manufacturing facility in Chennai
Chennai/Mumbai. 04 September 2023 . Centena Group Company, Maritronics India, a leading Marine Equipment & Marine Spare Parts supplier is making a strategic foray into manufacturing of specialized equipment tailored to the unique requirements of the defence sector in India. The company will showcase its first batch of indigenously developed products at the forthcoming SMM-INMEX, South Asia’s largest maritime exhibition & conference at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai in October this year. These indigenous products, branded “Edge”, are a testament to its dedication to the vision of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ – a self-reliant India. Maritronics India is in the process of setting up its own manufacturing facility in Chennai, which at full potential can employ up to 250 technicians and engineers. The facility is expected to commence production in 12 months. This is a significant step towards reducing dependency on defence imports, the supply of which are often subject to geopolitical uncertainties.

To strengthen its manufacturing capabilities, Maritronics India has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) to jointly develop and market navigation, communication, and automation equipment for marine vessels in the Indian defence market. Incidentally, Maritronics will be the first private company in the country, to manufacture marine type-approved state of the art navigation and communication equipment’s like Fiber optic gyro and Integrated Bridge system which includes radars, ECDIS, and conning displays for advanced navigation systems.
