Zhukovsky, Moscow. 23 July 2021. The fourth day of MAKS-2021 is high time to sum up the preliminary results of the exhibition. Not coincidentally that on Friday Rostec State Corporation published data on the volume of contracts and agreements signed. Also on this day there was an awarding ceremony for the winners of the MAKS-2021 Golden Wings contest. Starting on Friday, the salon’s visitor profile also changes. On Students’ Day the exhibition complex is filled with young people who wish to join the aviation and astronautics. There are less and less strict formal suits, more and more people wearing clothes with aviation symbols, including the logo of the MAKS air show.
Student’s Day
On the Students’ Day, held at MAKS since 2015, the full-time students of higher and secondary educational institutions are allowed to visit the exhibition for free. In 2021, more than 4,000 young men and girls took advantage of this opportunity.
The Student’s Day was started by Vladimir Sovetkin, Deputy Director General of Aviasalon, and Oksana Kosachenko, President of Sistema Charitable Foundation. A large-scale youth program was specially prepared for this day, which included career guidance events in the framework of the project “Lift to The Future”.
The “Lift to the Future” flagship project included a volunteer program, career guidance events, including meetings with aircraft creators, test pilots, aerobatic team leaders, and aerospace industry communicators. The event participants learned what professions are much needed now and those which will be relevant in the coming 10 years, got the information about the competencies required for a successful job search, learned about employers in the aerospace industry.
Given that not everyone had an opportunity to attend the MAKS site in person, Sistema CF organized an online broadcast on the “Lift to the Future” project website. The interactive broadcast gathered more than 1 million views.
On Student’s Day, there were also other career guidance events. The Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute held a panel discussion “Aviation Career Center: New Tools for Training Engineering And Technical Personnel for the Aerospace Industry”, which touched on issues of interaction between research organizations and educational institutions and building up ties between technical colleges, universities and TsAGI. In their turn, Sukhoi Company and Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG made a presentation “Methods of attracting young talents and prospects of their development”. Almaz-Antey Concern made a presentation for potential employees.
Contracts and agreements
Rostec State Corporation, the organizer of the International Aviation and Space Shows, has summed up the preliminary results of work at MAKS-2021. By entering into contracts and agreements for 230 billion rubles, the integrated structures and companies that are part of Rostec have increased the portfolio of orders from the Russian companies by 161 aircraft, as well as laid the groundwork for the exportation of weapons and military equipment,
i.e. the United Aircraft Corporation has signed agreements on the delivery of 58 Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft and 19 regional IL-114-300 to its customers. Russian Helicopters has signed agreements on the delivery of 84 helicopters, including the Mi-171A3, Ka-62, Mi-38, Mi-8, and Ansat. As previously reported, Rosoboronexport has signed 13 export contracts on the delivery of Russian military goods for more than 1 billion euro. Novikombank, the base bank of Rostec, has signed financing agreements for the production of new helicopters and aircraft, aircraft engines and air components, as well as strategic partnership with the Composite Valley S&T Innovation Centre. “MAKS-2021 became truly large-scale, rich in premieres and productive for the industry community. Rostec presented about 500 products at the air show, including about 50 novelties – aircraft, helicopters, UAVs, aircraft electronics, engines, and much more, including Sukhoi’s new Checkmate tactical aircraft, the presentation of which was a global scale event. The results of the air show exceeded all expectations – our companies signed agreements with partners for more than 230 billion rubles”, said Sergey Chemezov, head of Rostec.
Novikombank, the general financial partner of the Salon, continued its activities on the site of MAKS on Friday. The agreement signed with the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute provides financial support for the project to create a supersonic passenger aircraft. Furthermore, on Friday the signing of agreements on the implementation of the housing program took place with the enterprises of the aircraft industry. Tupolev PJSC, Rostvertol PJSC, Kazan Helicopter Plant PJSC, Sukhoi Company PJSC, Russian Helicopters JSC, and Sokol Aircraft Plant, a branch of the Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG JSC, joined the housing program of Novikombank. The agreements signed are aimed at increasing the affordability of housing for employees of companies within the framework of mortgage products developed by the bank.
A number of cooperation agreements were also signed here. Technodinamika Holding has signed a memorandum of cooperation and interaction with the Ural Works of Civil Aviation to create aircraft units for TVRS-44 turboprop regional aircraft. Within the framework of cooperation, the enterprises of Technodinamika will develop and produce the main and front chassis supports, upgrade the brake wheel, and create electrical system units.
In its turn, Russian Helicopters Holding Company and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology entered into a strategic partnership agreement in the field of development of helicopter equipment and software and hardware systems based on unmanned helicopter-type aircraft systems.
At MAKS-2021 the Special Communications Service of Russia signed a cooperation agreement with Zhukovsky International Airport CARGO, JSC and MRK GROUP, LLC. According to the agreements between the parties, Zhukovsky CARGO and MRK GROUP will provide cargo transportation in the interests of Special Communications Service of Russia both on domestic and international flights, including those to the countries of South-East Asia. In their turn, Zhukovsky CARGO guarantees a high level of priority and safety of operations in cargo handling within the framework of cooperation with the Special Communications Service of Russia.
Business Program
The highlight of the business program on July 23rd was the round table “Implementation strategy for priority investment projects in the aircraft industry. Basic approaches. Investment feasibility. Industry Practices” organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, FSUE Aviakomplekt and Aviasalon JSC. The topics discussed by the event participants included main approaches to the determination of priority construction projects in the preparation of long-term planning programs. The participants were interested in issues related to the calculation of the required investments, evaluation of the cost of facilities and feasibility of investment projects. There was also a roundtable on the issues of digital transformation of the aircraft industry.
The Future Hub section hosted a conference dedicated to the organization of a research and technology school for young researchers, “Additive Technologies for Aerospace 2021”, organized by the National University of Science and Technology (MISiS). Russian Helicopters Holding Company made a presentation “Global Trends of the Near Future”.
About 20 events took place within the framework of the business program on July 23.
General Information
The MAKS-2021 Golden Wings contest, which was held for the fifth time, attracted more than 60 applications from 30 companies. An authoritative panel of experts decided on the winners in six major categories. In the category “Innovative Products and Technologies”, the first place was taken by the National Research Center Zhukovsky Institute. The special prize was awarded to Sukhoi Company for its LTS Checkmate. In the category “International Cooperation” the first place was taken by the Ural Works of Civil Aviation. The winner in the category “Import substitution” was the Ufa State Aviation Technical University. In the category “Event” the first place was awarded to TsAGI for the conference on the development of supersonic aircraft. In the category “Young Talents” the winner was the Moscow Aviation Institute. The category “Exhibits” included the sections “Best Stand”, the winner was Tactical Missiles Corporation, “Best Chalet”, the winner – Technodinamika, the special prize went to “Rosoboronexport”, “Best Pavilion”, the winner was Technodinamika, the special prize went to UEC. Special note should be made of the participation of specialists of Rostec State Corporation in preparations for MAKS-2021.
Traditionally, starting on Friday, the salon’s visitor profile changes, with more and more spectators arriving at the site. For guests’ convenience and in the interest of social distancing in public transport, the traffic interval for the electric trains and buses running between the Otdykh and Eseninskaya platforms and the exhibition center was shortened. The vehicles are disinfected with an increased frequency. For the days of mass attendance the following preparations were also made at the MAKS site – additional sanitizers were installed in visitor concentration areas and the frequency of information about the need to observe epidemiological measures was increased.
On its fourth day, MAKS-2021 welcomed 22,740 visitors. More than 54 thousand of visitors followed the Salon events at the official web-site of MAKS, 233 thousand more people read the news and watched the key events of MAKS using the official accounts of the air salon.
