Nagpur. 27 July 2024. NCC Group HQ observed Kargil Vijay Diwas with solemnity and pride, honoring the valour of soldiers who fought in the Kargil War. The solemn occasion was marked by a wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial at HQ Maintenance Command, IAF on 26 Jul 24 by Group Captain Kushal Vyas, Group Commander NCC GP, Nagpur. NCC cadets of Army, Navy and Air wing offered floral tribute to the brave soldiers and maintained two minutes of silence honoring the bravery, valour and sacrifices in the service of the nation by the Indian Armed Forces. The celebration continued at VNIT with lighting of lamp in remembrance of the brave hearts, by the Chief guest Brig Rahul Dutt, Deputy GOC Umang Subarea. The event was graced by Dr. Professor Squadron Leader Subir Mukerji who served in the 1965 and 1971 war. War Veterans, Maj Prashant Nimbalkar (Retd) and Col V C Sharma, Commanding Officer 20 MAH Battalion NCC, recounted the hardships faced by the soldiers, the strategic significance of the Kargil victory and the enduring spirit of patriotism that inspired the forces to prevail against formidable odds. The Chief Guest felicitated the NCC cadets who participated in various competitions including poster making, Essay and slogan writing activities organized by NCC GP HQ. The Kargil Vijay Diwas celebration by NCC Gp Nagpur, not only honoured the bravery and sacrifices of the brave soldiers but also reinforced a commitment in the young generation to uphold the values of courage, dedication and patriotism that define our nation. The rich legacy of our heroes, reminded by this event, will continue to inspire us to protect and servE with an unwavering resolve.
