Tokyo. 24 December, 2015. Japan’s biggest ever annual defence budget, was approved recently, attracting a major world attention.The cabinet approved 5.05 trillion yen ($41.8 billion) in defence spending for the next fiscal year starting in April.
The defence budget is 1.5 percent higher than the current fiscal year which was the previous record high, and marks the fourth straight annual increase in spending.
The shopping list includes Global Hawk drones and surveillance helicopters, amphibious assault vehicles, F-35 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft, F-35 fighters and an advanced Aegis radar-equipped destroyer.
