ITBP receives 18 medals on Republic Day 2022

New Delhi .25 January 2022. On the occasion of 73rd Republic Day, 2021 Government of India has conferred 18 medals to ITBP officers and men-

Police Medal for Gallantry (ANO)

Sh Ashok Kumar, AC (GD), 40th Battalion
Sh Suresh Lal, Inspector (GD), 40th Battalion
Sh Neela Singh, Sub Inspector/GD (Now Inspector) 40th Battalion

The operation party led by Sh Ashok Kumar, AC (GD) cordoned the area of Bodla Village in general area Katema, Naktighati, Distt- Rajnandgaon (Chhattisgarh) on 09 Feb-2018. Sh. Suresh Lal, Inspector (GD) and Sh Nella Singh, SI/GD (Now Inspector/GD) were also the part of the cordon & search party. The cordon party mounted extensive pressure over Naxals, which resulting the party came under heavy volume of fire by the Naxals. The exchange of the fire between own ops party and Naxals continued for almost 20 minutes. 02 Naxals had killed in this operation followed by recovery of one 7.65 mm Pistol, two 12 bore rifles and other arms/amns & equipments. Killed Naxals were identified as Vinod @Devan Dy. Commander Platoon from Garchiroli and other one Sagar member of platoon-55 from Bijapur who were carrying cash reward of 8 & 2 Lacs respectively. This operation was conducted with meticulous planning and professional manner and all the 03 personnel of ITBP demonstrated the exemplary valour and extra ordinary courage and for this bravery act they have been awarded with ‘Police Medal for Gallantry’.
