New Delhi. 30 September 2020. The Indian Institute of Aeronautics (IIA) Group has entered into an agreement with Airbus to use the training solution ‘Airbus Competence Training (ACT) for Academy’ in its curriculum. ‘ACT for Academy’ is a specific training software under Airbus’ Training Services that aims at familiarising students with the latest Airbus aircraft technology and maintenance procedures, in a classroom environment.
Through this maintenance training solution, Airbus aims at preparing and equipping young aerospace aspirants for their career challenges and to create a skilled workforce in consonance with the Indian government’s ‘Skill India’ initiative. The ‘ACT for Academy’ will help supplement the basic aircraft education of students at IIA. It is an operationally oriented, scenario-based tool focused on a ‘learning by doing’ approach.
It includes:
- 3D virtual Airbus aircraft, including virtual cockpit, virtual engines and a walk-around trainer
- Scenario driven exercises to perform typical aircraft systems’ maintenance tasks
- General familiarisation on Airbus aircraft courseware to present and explain the aircraft and its systems
“It gives us immense pleasure to be the launch customer for the establishment of ‘Airbus ACT for Academy’ at IIA’s New Delhi campus. This training solution will support the curriculum of DGCA & EASA Part 147 for approved Maintenance Training Organisations and staff. It will not only corroborate a remarkable feat in the basic training standards but in parallel boost the employability skills of our students by upscaling their knowledge and skill levels as desired by the aviation industry,” said Rahul Ranjan Singh, Vice President, IIAG.
“The aviation industry in the South Asia region will gradually recover because of its strong fundamentals. The availability of skilled and qualified workforce trained to the highest standards will be key to accelerating the recovery,” said Remi Maillard, President & Managing Director, Airbus India & South Asia. “The partnership with IIA is one of the steps Airbus is taking to prepare future-ready talent in the aircraft maintenance and engineering sector. We are ready to take our innovative virtual training solution to all prominent engineering institutions in the region, thereby helping develop an adept workforce in line with the government’s ‘Skill India’ initiative.”
IIA is one of the biggest contributors of technical skills in the Indian aviation market. The state-of-the-art facility and competent trainers at the institute are at par with global standards.
Airbus’ portfolio of services, collectively named ‘Airbus Services’ ensures a smooth aircraft entry into service and provides customers with support and services throughout the operation life of their Airbus fleet.
