- Five Indian brave heart’s martyred
New Delhi. 06 April 2020. With the world fighting against Corona Virus and Indians in a complete lockdown to combat this COVID-19, for Pakistan and it’s instigated terrorism this is an opportunity to continue with it’s heinous activities at Line of Control.
Indian Army launched this daring operation at the Line of Control in Karen Sector and engaged Pakistan supported infiltrators in a Close Quarter Battle in heavy snow, neutralising the entire infiltrating batch of five. In this battle, five soldiers got martyred, three on the site and two more succumbed while they were airlifted to a nearby military hospital.
Four soldiers under the command of a Junior Commissioned Officer from one of the most professional Para SF Units were heli dropped near the LoC after information on the infiltrators was received. An intense hand to hand battle ensued and all five terrorists were eliminated.
Footsteps were first reported on early morning of first April, however, extremely difficult terrain and inclement weather prevented any worthwhile engagement. The Special Forces troops were launched on fourth April and the main engagement took place on fifth morning.
At first light of fifth April, one squad, following the footsteps on the snow realised late that they were on a cornice. It broke and they fell into the nallah close to where the terrorists were sitting. This led to a close quarter battle at virtually point blank range. Mortal remains of the soldiers and terrorists found within 2-3 mtrs of each other.
The Special Forces martyrs were Subedar Sanjeev Kumar No. JC413798Y of Himachal Pradesh. His team members were Hav. Davendra Singh No. 13625231Y R/o Utarakhand, Sepoy Bal krishan No. 13633013P R/o Himachal Pradesh, Sepoy Amit Kumar No. 4093303X R/o Uttarakhand and Sepoy Chhatrapal Singh No. 1487156H R/o Rajasthan.
