• Force Multiplier: K9 Zac Leads the Charge in Indian Army Operations

New Delhi. 14 August 2024. K9 Zac, a specialized Belgian Malinois, is a remarkable asset to the Indian Army’s tactical operations. Trained at the Dog Training Faculty of RVC Centre and College, Meerut, Zac is just two and a half years old but already excels in complex tactical operations such as Fighting in Built-Up Areas (FIBUA), Cordon and Search Operations (CASO), and Jungle Search and Area Sanitisation. With advanced training in Laser Guided Assault, Weapon Retrieval, and Radio Guided Directional Control, Zac is equipped with a head-mounted tactical camera, enabling real-time video surveillance. Zac’s unique capabilities make him an invaluable first responder in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism (CI/CT) operations, offering a significant advantage to the Indian Army.

These highly trained K9s are being extensively used in Active CI/CT areas and Special Forces Ops as First Responders of Op Teams, providing a definitive upper hand to our forces.The K9 Detachment of Ex Mitra Shakti comprises of Maj Rishi Sharma, ADT Pranjal Sakiya and K9 Zac. During the course of the Joint Exercise, Zac will participate in plethora of activities, including, House Intervention, Jungle searches, Laser guided assaults, area sanitisation among other facets of CI ops. Maj Rishi Sharma, the K9 Det Commander says about Zac, “He is a force multiplier and first responder in majority of related tactical ops”.
