- F-35 owners and operators will benefit from lower ownership costs and increased efficiency and sustainability
FARNBOROUGH, United Kingdom, July 18, 2022 — Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) and Aeronamic, an aircraft components and services provider, have signed a licensed service center agreement to create a depot in the Netherlands dedicated to the sustainment of the F-35’s power and thermal management system.
The long-term agreement will cover the European market and bring significant benefits to both current and future owners and operators of the F-35. This agreement will substantially reduce the logistical footprint of supporting the regional fleet with a Netherlands-based depot, resulting in lower costs for F-35 operators.
“We’re proud to partner with Honeywell and be one of the service providers for F-35 aircraft,” said Reinoud Siezen, vice president, Business Development and Programs, Aeronamic. “Our central location in the Netherlands is favorable for European market operations because we can combine Honeywell’s extensive knowledge and skills with our regional expertise, resulting in a great solution for those who operate and own F-35 aircraft.”
“Our agreement with Aeronamic will provide substantial advantages to both owners and operators of the F-35 in Europe that are considering regional depots,” said John Guasto, vice president, Defense and Space International, Honeywell Aerospace. “Honeywell is a leading manufacturer of electronics, engines and mechanical systems for the F-35, and this deal demonstrates our commitment to partnering with local service providers around the world.”
Honeywell’s power and thermal management system (PTMS) integrates three aircraft systems into one, representing a first for the industry. Through its integrations, the Honeywell PTMS increases efficiency and reliability and reduces system life cycle costs for the operator. Each F-35 contains 100 unique Honeywell parts; therefore, Honeywell can provide several upgrades, retrofits and modifications to this advanced joint strike fighter. Honeywell’s advanced technology on the aircraft includes avionics, inertial navigation systems, engine fuel controls, cockpit and avionics cooling, wheels and brakes, pilot life support and a thermal management system, offering a dramatic contrast to conventional systems.
