- The dedicated care delivered to veterans is part of long association between HPH and the Australian armed forces following its establishment as a military hospital during WWII.
Perth. 07 December 2020. The long relationship between Hollywood Private Hospital and veterans of the Royal Australian Navy has been recognised as part of the Naval Association of Australia’s centenary celebrations.
The Association was founded in 1920 with the sole purpose of looking after the interests of serving Navy and ex-Navy men and women and the centenary was recognised with a series of events during November.
Hollywood Private Hospital Chief Executive Officer Peter Mott said each month about 60 navy veterans attended the hospital for a range of reasons, with patients aged from their 20s to their 80s and 90s.
“The connection to our history as a military hospital is strong, and will continue to be as we support the next generation of veterans including those in the Royal Australian Navy as well as other branches of the Australian armed forces,” Mott said.
“Ramsay Health Care has significantly expanded Hollywood since it commenced operations in 1994 which means we can deliver a far more comprehensive suite of medical services caring for patients mental and physical health.”
Mott said expansion at HPH was continuing with construction of Perth’s first private emergency department north of the Swan River and associated wards set to open next year.
“Veterans are always considered our VIPs and we take great pride in our long association with the Australian armed forces,” Mott said.
Naval Association of Australian Western Australian State President, Ian Holthouse, said the specialised services delivered to veterans at HPH was critical to their ongoing health and wellbeing.
“The consistent care our veterans receive at Hollywood Private Hospital means they build strong trusting relationships with staff which improves their experience,” Holthouse said.
“It’s important for veterans to receive wrap-around services including mental and physical health with a consistent team who understands the special circumstances of veterans and their families.”
