Athens, Greece. 10 July 2021. The Hellenic Coast Guard (HCG) was established in 1919 and constitutes a full law enforcement Authority, with military organisational structure and pre-judicial investigation powers. A sound structure in the Ministry of Maritime Affairs & Insular Policy, the HCG, aims at fostering maritime economic development, securing social cohesion and safeguarding maritime safety, security and protection of marine environment.
The HCG has an extended range of services around the globe, with a unique international network. 14 Maritime Attachés (HCG Officers) worldwide, employed in ports with a strategic significance to the international shipping industry as well as permanent representation in the EU.
