Nagpur, India. 26 August 2023. The legendary Indian Army War Veteran Major General Ian Cardozo AVSM SM (Retd) was honoured by Nagpur based HQ Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat Sub Area.The war veteran was accompanied by his wife Mrs Priscilla Cardozo. The event was widely attended by serving officers & retired officers and their wives as well as NCC Cadets. Members from Centre for Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir Studies an NGO which has organised the visit of Maj Gen & Mrs Cardozo to Nagpur, were also present during the event.
During his address, Major General Ian Cardozo shared his experiences of the 1971 war which he has also amplified in his Autobiography ‘1971: Stories of Grit and Glory’. He also talked about the importance of morale of troops and the crucial role played by army wives, mothers and women in the Armed forces. Maj Gen Cardozo emphasized on the importance of regimental spirit & values that inspire and motivate the military men to give their best to ensure victory in war. He highlighted the need for the Military and the corporate sector to learn from each other, specially from the vast experience of the military veterans and management experts, to take the country forward in all fields.
The address by Maj Gen Cardozo was followed by an open house in which the curious audience posed questions to the war veteran.The event was concluded by a vote of thanks by Brig K Anand, Commandant, Brigade of the Guards Regimental Centre. Brig Anand also presented a memento to Maj Gen Cardozo on behalf of Maj Gen S K Vidyarthi, AVSM, SM, GOC Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat Sub Area who is out of Station on Temporary Duty.
