Kolkata, 26 November 2024: As part of its commitment to promoting sustainable practices and reducing carbon emissions, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd. (GRSE), a Schedule A Defence PSU and a leading warship-building company, has inducted five additional electric vehicles (EVs). This milestone further reinforces GRSE’s vision of fostering a cleaner and greener future for India.
DIG Subrato Ghosh, ICG (Retd.), Director (Personnel), GRSE flagged off the electric vehicles from 61 Park Unit of GRSE, Kolkata in the august presence of representatives from M/s Orix Auto Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. and M/s Tata Motors & senior officials of GRSE. This addition brings the company’s total EV fleet count to 19, marking yet another step in the company’s Green Energy Drive.
The eco-friendly vehicles have been procured as part of the Government of India’s “Go Electric Campaign”. By adopting EVs, GRSE has successfully saved 1,19,700 litres of fossil fuel consumption and reduced 208.5 metric tons of Carbon Dioxide emissions over three years, with the new additions projected to further reduce emissions by 24.82 metric tons annually. This initiative promotes e-mobility and supports the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat by boosting indigenous EV manufacturing.
