- Affirms commitment to the UK Armed Forces Covenant; Makes donation to Hiring Our Heroes and Forces Employment Charity
GLOUCESTERSHIRE, England – July 19, 2024 — GE Aerospace (NYSE: GE) announced today at the Royal International Air Tattoo in the United Kingdom that it is donating $150,000 to two separate charities that support veterans as they transition from military service into the civilian workforce and beyond. The donation will be shared by Hiring our Heroes in the United States and Forces Employment Charity in the United Kingdom.
“GE Aerospace is passionate about lifting people where we live and work, and we have a long-standing commitment to supporting the armed forces community,” said Amy Gowder, President and CEO, Defense and Systems, GE Aerospace. “We are proud to employ thousands of veterans in the U.S. and U.K. and our donation will help even more service members be successful in the private sector.”
GE Aerospace announced its donation at a signing ceremony reinforcing its formal commitment to UK veterans by re-signing the Armed Forces Covenant. The company first signed onto the Armed Forces Covenant in 2014 and this re-signing recognizes the contribution that service members, veterans and military families continue to make on the business, our communities and their respective countries.
GE Aerospace offers veterans access to a leadership training and placement program for transitioning veterans – GE Aerospace places more than 20 persons annually through our Military Officers Leadership Program – and supports an active employee resource group for its veteran community.
“On behalf of the Forces Employment Charity, I extend our deepest gratitude to GE Aerospace for their generous donation of $75,000,” said Alistair Halliday, CEO, Forces Employment Charity. “This contribution is instrumental in advancing our mission to support and empower veterans and their families. Your support enables us to continue providing services and resources to those who have served our nation. Thank you for standing with us in this vital work.”
“Hiring Our Heroes is honored to stand alongside GE Aerospace as we work to connect military talent with the meaningful careers that allow them to thrive,” said Eric Eversole, president of Hiring Our Heroes. “This contribution is an important investment in our nation’s veterans and their families, paving the way for their success in civilian careers.”
