Athens. 15 June 2021. Prominent new developments in the field of Defence and Security linked to the prospect of revitalizing the European defence industry is the focus of the 1st International Defence Industry, Systems and National Security Exhibition DEFEA-Defence Exhibition Athens.
At June exhibition, DEFEA is honouring the participation of European Commission with a stand. The Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS) will introduce the collaborative defence R&D programmes: the European Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP) and the European Defence Fund (EDF), including participation opportunities in such programmes for all different sized European entities. DG DEFIS also aims at encouraging cross-border participation. The European Commission is most welcome at the high level conference, which will take place during the exhibition.
At DEFEA 90% of all available spaces have now been filled by renowned international companies such as Lockheed Martin, Pratt and Whitney, Naval Group, Thales, Nexter, Safran and Elbit Systems. Greek companies are also heavily involved and will showcase their great potential in the defence industry.
More than 10 countries will be represented in the exhibition either through national pavilions or independent participations, and official delegations from more than 55 countries are officially invited at the level of General Directorates of Defence Investments and Armaments, Ministry of National Defence, and Chief of Staff, with the ambition that the DEFEA, International Defence Industry, Defence Systems and National Security Exhibition will become the most important forum in the broader defence industry of the coming years for all the region.
During high tides on geopolitical level in the broader MENA Region , discourse on security and defence has become much more intense. Greece itself is bouncing back from the crisis and after a full decade of fiscal consolidation is preparing to invest in defence. In this regard DEFEA is honored to display the qualities of a wide variety of Greek companies alongside long standing defence industry giants.
