Parc de Expositions, Paris. 03 November 2024. MBDA, the European leader in complex weapons systems, will present at Euronaval 2024 an evolving portfolio of sovereign defence solutions that provide a full range of decisive capabilities to ensure maritime superiority.

Naval forces are increasingly responding to multiple areas of action. From asymmetric threats such as drones through to the most complex Deep Strike missions. The latter signalling a return of high-intensity conflicts. Faced with this new context, only MBDA has the expertise to develop the latest technologies for the most advanced systems that overcome the changing demands of naval warfare.

Deep Strike: a comprehensive portfolio of sovereign capabilities

MBDA is the sole European player to provide a comprehensive portfolio of sovereign Deep Strike solutions that continue to adapt to prepare for the future.

MBDA is showcasing its new generation of the world-renowned Exocet family of anti-ship missiles. Presented for the first time at Euronaval is the new submarine-launched Exocet SM40. Exocet SM40 features a new seeker to operate in highly complex electronic warfare environments and a doubled range – compared to previous version – to ensure submarine self-protection. This latest evolution of Exocet keeps MBDA as the unique European player to provide a sovereign missile capability for submarines. As a testimony of the missiles unrivalled success, the MBDA booth is displaying a specially branded Exocet MM40 B3c marking the milestone of the 4000th Exocet missile manufactured.

Also highlighted at Euronaval is the new TESEO Mk2/E multi-mission anti-ship missile, developed to meet the sovereign needs of the Italian Navy. It constitutes a step change for the TESEO family – internationally known as OTOMAT – delivering an enhanced mission range. A new dual seeker, at the edge of technology, guarantees improved anti-ship missions, adding a high precision land attack mode.

Current events continue to underline the critical importance of sovereign Deep Strike capabilities to European nations. MBDA is already working on the next generation of European Deep Strike systems, with the Future Cruise / Anti-Ship Weapon (FC/ASW) at the fore. With FC/ASW, MBDA is leveraging the full strength of its co-operative multi-national DNA to shape sovereign deep strike capabilities for anti-ship and surface strike missions for the next decade and further in the future.

Countering the un-crewed threat

Emerging threats at sea also come in new and ever-changing forms. Faced with this reality, Navies need to deploy a range of resources to protect their assets, sometimes in combination. MBDA provides a full range of the most advanced naval-based air defence systems, from counter un-crewed aerial vehicles (C-UAVs) and un-crewed submersible vehicles (C-USVs) to counter-hypersonic threats.

To stay agile and adapt to new challenges, MBDA is offering Sea Warden, a comprehensive and scalable system to counter all UAV & USV threats. Sea Warden is the response to the need for the self-protection of merchant and warfare ships, now and in the future. In addition, as there is a growing demand for Laser Directed Energy Weapons in naval-based air defence, MBDA is showcasing its wide range of European solutions that fulfil this customer requirement.

Multi layered air defence

Navies can rely on MBDA’s expertise to cover a multi layered air defence systems portfolio, with MISTRAL, MICA, CAMM and the combat proven Aster families of missiles systems on display at Euronaval.

A new SIMBAD-RC system – operating the very effective fire-and- forget MISTRAL 3 missile – is being presented at the exhibition. The system improves the self-defence of naval platforms. It is now the only sovereign self-defence system able to defeat the full scope of short-range aerial threats, and designed to defend against saturation attacks.

The Aster family will also be on display as the cornerstone of European Air Defence capability to protect the European sky. The Aster B1 NT is latest evolution in this French- Italian co-operation programme, which reached a new milestone in late October with its first successful firing. The Aster family defeats the most high-end threats and provides Europe with a resilient hypersonic defence capability.

Trusted partner

To remain a trusted partner of its customers and ensure the sovereignty of European nations’ and their allies, MBDA continues to innovate, drive excellence and deliver decisive capabilities for the future.
