New Delhi. 21 August 2024. One of the major role of Combat Engineers in CI/CT ops is to dispose Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Engineers are trained to handle & disarm IEDs which may be used in insurgent/terrorist attacks.
In Joint Exercise Mitra Shakti, a scenario was built around urban patrol demonstration, wherein an IED attack was simulated. There was apprehension of more IEDs in the area and the Combat Engineers were tasked to carry out search, detection and neutralising the IED(s).
