As the third and final day of DSEI Japan 2023 draws to a close DSEI Japan Director James Samuel has given his reflections on a successful event.
DSEI Japan is the only large-scale, fully integrated defence event to take place in Japan, providing unprecedented levels of access into the Japanese and wider Asia-Pacific market.
DSEI Japan 2023 enjoys the backing of the Japanese MoD, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and ATLA.
Speaking from the exhibition floor James Samuel, DSEI Japan Director, said: “DSEI Japan 2023 has been a huge success, with visitor numbers up significantly on the 2019 edition and the number of exhibiting companies having increased by 65%. On day one we had an address from Defence Minister Yasukazu Hamada and have had representatives from the highest level of the Japanese Ministry of Defence and The Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry (METI) visit throughout. From an international perspective it was great for our delegates to hear speeches from very senior representatives of foreign governments including UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace and Volodymyr Havrylov, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine.
We have delivered on our three key aims for the show, firstly to provide the Japanese Ministry of Defence and Japanese buyers a chance to speak with international companies, secondly for Japanese companies to be able to meet with international MODs and delegations and thirdly to provide as a platform for critical bi-lateral meetings.
There is no other platform where the whole defence ecosystem is present where senior representatives from government and the defence industry can meet to discuss their priorities.”
