New Delhi. 30 June 2016. The Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar dedicated the Defence Communication Network (DCN) to the nation. Addressing the event, Parrikar complimented the three Services on putting in place a communication system to facilitate jointmanship. The Minister also stressed on the need to keep the network secure.
The DCN is a strategic, exclusive, secure and state-of-the-art communication network. Implementation of DCN is a proof of strength of the Indian industry and has reaffirmed the emphasis of the Government on Make in India, program.
The DCN is a major step towards ensuring Network Centricity across the three Services, Integrated Defence Staff and Strategic Forces Command. The network provides converged voice, data and video services to the three Services based on secured system with adequate redundancy.
The event was attended by the Chairman, Chief of Staff Committee and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, Chief of the Army Staff General Dalbir Singh, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lanba and senior officers from the three Services and Ministry of Defence.
