Vodochody, Czech Republic. 13 September 2023.The Czech Aero L-39NG trainer aircraft will perform a modified aerobatic display and a unique flypast with its predecessor, the L-39C Albatros, at NATO Days in Ostrava & Air Force Days 2023. The largest security show in Europe will take place at the Leoš Janáček Airport in Mošnov near Ostrava on the weekend of 16 and 17 September 2023.
Aero will present the eastern configuration of its L-39NG subsonic trainer aircraft at NATO Days in Ostrava & Air Force Days 2023, for example for a customer from Vietnam, which will receive the first of 12 aircraft ordered by the end of this year. Visitors to NATO Days will thus see a different aircraft from the one demonstrated at the event last year. “We believe that the quality of the L-39NG platform and its attractive acquisition and operating costs can make the L-39NG as iconic an aircraft as its predecessor, the L-39 Albatros. In addition to existing orders, we are in negotiations with potential bidders from various parts of the world,” reveals Viktor Sotona, President and CEO of Aero.
The L-39NG training jet from Aero will show the public a slightly different aerobatic routine at this year’s NATO Days in Ostrava compared to its last stop at the domestic event. Aviation fans will see twists, flips, backflying with a turn or maximum angle of attack turns. The aircraft will reach altitudes of up to 1,000 metres above the ground during the dynamic demonstration and speeds during manoeuvres will touch the 560 km/h mark. Visitors will also get a closer look at the L-39NG during a static demonstration on both flying days.
Prior to the solo demonstration of the L-39NG, the trainer will take to the skies in a joint flypast with its generational predecessor, the L-39C Albatros, operated by the Pardubice Flight Training Centre, which belongs to the state-owned LOM Praha. Aero will deliver four L-39NGs to LOM PRAHA with an option for four more. The inauguration of the L-39NG production for basic and advanced training of pilots of the Czech Air Force took place in May 2023.
The L-39NG platform, which allows for both western and eastern configurations, is primarily intended for a comprehensive training system for pilots of 4th and 5th generation aircraft, supplemented by a full ground training system. The value of training can be significantly enhanced by interfacing with an integrated virtual training system on board the aircraft. The aircraft’s enormous potential is illustrated by its possible expansion for light combat and reconnaissance missions, which is also Aero’s current focus.
