New Delhi, 29 December 2020. On 28.12.2020 at about 1215 hrs, on the basis of behaviour detection, CISF surveillance and Intelligence staff of IGI Airport noticed suspicious activities of a foreign passenger in check-in area of Terminal-3. On suspicion, he was kept under close watch and the message was passed to CISF personnel deployed in Security Hold Area (SHA) for intensive screening of said passenger and his hand bag.
During Pre-Embarkation Security Check (PESC) through X-BIS machine in SHA of Ter-3, CISF personnel detected 03 lakh Afghani currency & 17,800 US Dollars worth approximately INR 15 lakh concealed under his jacket and in hand baggage. On enquiry, neither he replied satisfactorily nor produced any valid document to carry such foreign currency.
The passenger was later identified as Abdul Wali Rohani (Afghan National), bound for Kabul by Ariana Afghan flight No. FG-312 (STD-1435 hrs).The matter was informed to Senior Officers of CISF and Custom Officials.
Later, the said foreign national along with the recovered 03 lakh Afghani currency & 17,800 US Dollars worth approximately INR 15 lakh was handed over to Custom Officials for further action in the matter
