New Delhi. 30 October,2015. Apex industry body ASSOCHAM today said that the draft aviation policy will surely help in expansion of the sector while more and more cities would be connected with the airlines. “The issue of 5/20 should be settled keeping in view the level playing field for the players,” said D.S. Rawat, secretary general, ASSOCHAM.
“Besides, sincere efforts must be made to build a consensus among the Centre and the states on fiscal incentives being proposed in the policy,” said Rawat.
“For instance, the VAT concession being proposed should be in sync with the GST regime,” he added.
“However, the viability gap funding should be raised through other sources and not through levy of cess on long distance flights,” further said Rawat.
“That would amount to cross subsidisation,” he added.
