Bucharest, Romania. 01 March 2023. Romanian aerospace company AEROSTAR has reached an important milestone – the completion of base maintenance for the 1,000th aircraft since the opening of the commercial MRO business line. The aircraft was a Boeing 737-8 MAX from Czech airline Smartwings. It is undergoing a C check and is scheduled for delivery on 6 March.
AEROSTAR has been an EASA Part 145 approved commercial aircraft maintenance organization since January 2007, with an extensive range of authorizations from other civil aviation authorities, including the FAA. It has made a significant mark in terms of business volume in the commercial MRO field, being an independent provider of maintenance services for the Airbus A320ceo/neo and Boeing 737 aircraft families. Recently, the Boeing 737-7/8/9 MAX model was added to the portfolio.
In almost 20 years of acting as commercial MRO, the Romanian aerospace company has continuously developed and increased its capabilities. It currently has two facilities, at Bacau (with seven bays) and Iasi (with three bays, opened in 2020).
AEROSTAR has confirmed its position as the leading independent provider of MRO services in the region. Accomplishment of the 1,00th0 base maintenance events crowns almost two decades of professional performance.

This year, AEROSTAR is reaching a major milestone in its life – 70 years since its foundation in 1953. Initially established with the mission to provide maintenance and repair of the Romanian Air Force, AEROSTAR has experienced a continuous development during the years both in the field of aeronautical and military equipment and in production of components for the civil markets. In 2021, the latest year for which figures are available, commercial MRO represented 29.0% of turnover.
With an experience of almost seven decades, AEROSTAR has become a sustainable centre of action, focusing on accomplishing its mission of meeting customer’s demands, needs and expectation, with continuous improvement at all levels and increasing performance through the professional development of its employees.
